Engine Seized :( ... Value?

Post by DaveHew »

Just found out that my engine has seized, cant really afford to buy a new engine and pay for the labour to get it fitted. Been looking for engines and onli saw 2 on ebay, one goin for around £700 and the other £1000. thats just the engine.

My Car has i think 80,000 Miles on the clock
silver 3 door x reg
Lowerd on Coloivers
Full Powerflow exhaust system
Bmc Induction

Just gutted that i may have to sell! :(
Just wondering how much i would get for it if i was to sell it how it is?

i'd say hang on for an engine, i've seen a few going for around the £400 mark on the bay. reckon you'd do well breaking it, they always seem to, but as it is you ain't gonna get that much tbh.

you just need patience if you're guna break it thats all....!! :D

oh and if you do....i'll buy a few bits too haha!!

I don't know the age of an X-reg, but my 6N has a sticker in the boot with the engine, colour and options codes.

How bad is the engine? What was the cause of the siezure?

Is it not possible to rebuild the engine? Get it bored out to 1700cc+ bigger pistons, raise the compression and fit individual throttle bodies?.... :D

That was the first thing i thought of doingg!! :)
exactly that. however the engine is in a very bad way its alot cheaper just to buy a new one rather than rebuild it.
a couple of weeks ago we had a hell of a lot of rain, went through a massive puddle, basically a river and becuase my car is so low and the cold air feed for my bmc is in my wheel arch too much water got in to my engine aparently and wel.. broke it :( !
