No unless you have upgraded the brakes as I have done.pip_polo wrote:are they the same as discs as the 1.4tdi?

Your discs will be 256mm vented and no doubt drums at the rear as most came that way some have discs at the rear.

Re: Where to get discs and pads
i have drilled zimmerman discs on the front of mine along with some pagid sporty pads. standard discs and pagid on the back. i got these from GSF. did have a few problems with the discs being the wrong size etc but GSF seem fairly helpful and got the right size eventually. the discs have been on about 2 years and are knackered. looking at going for ebc disks and green stuff pads. any comments on which ebc discs to go for the turbo or the ultimax?

Yeah I was looking at the EBC ones. IS for the rear so not vented on mine.

Euro Car Parts do OE stuff; I tend to buy from them. Remember Jurid are OE manufacturer for VW.

Re: Where to get discs and pads
just got my brakes sorted. went with ate power discs at the front standard ate discs at the back and green stuff pads all round. got them from eurocarparts for about £180 all in. eurocar parts codes are as below
929440326 - ebc green stuff rear
929440596 - ebc green stuff front
104440740 - ate discs rea
926440210 - ate power discs front
bedding them in at the moment and the squealling has stopped.
if you can borrow a winding tool this helps on the rears. took a few hours and several cups of tea.
