well im running the stock airbox, so mine is sound less

but on an open cone they sound more like a sqeal from a pig because of how fast they operate

as for horror stories, iv never heard of any, and my valve runs better than my 007p ever did, never get any boot escaping now due to weak springs as there is no spring

as for my torques, i dont know, maybe i have just got a good one, but you have been in it, you gotta admit it pulls dam well

Lol !
Yeah, ill give you that i did pull well.

Not horror stories as such, just bringing up fault codes and warning lights with some people running them. But if yours is ok i might get one of those when i get back from hols. Anyways, i thought you were running a jetex? That why i asked about how it sounded you see.

And also....if you are after some proper nice wheels have you looked at the SCHMIDT TH LINES with a carbon centre? Could look great on black.
If you did want some schmidt rims, im good friends with a guy who imports them at rimstyle. Hes a customer of mine. Let me no i could probs get you a few quid knocked off....better than a kick in the teeth.

cheers alex, ill bare that in mind, but am just getting some narrower front tyres for now to keep my BBS's

i wanted 16 inch schmidt th lines the same in modern lines, but neither will clear the 312 brakes

cheers tho

as for the jetex, the company i ordered it off failed to supply and gave me a refund which is p*** poor, something else i need to get re ordered

iv defo had no issues from the APR R1 mate, for me, it also looks better than the 007p's aged large design

ok mate, well most of your top brands like bbs, schmidt, keskin etc etc i can get so....you know where i am.
So does the APR R1 run smaller than the 007 then? As my 007 knocks and rubs on my strut brace which gets annoying...dont really wanna be running around with a bit of rubber wedged underneath. That sucks about the jetex....i wanna cone filter but just dont know what route to go down at all tbh.

alex its much smaller in length but slightly larger in diameter, it fits under the engine cover and can just be seen, does not hit or rattle on anything at all

as for filters, iv heard jetex are the best for our engines, but awesome has told me what BHP ill gain by adding a filter, ill lose in torque and as you have said my torque is well up there at the min and it is torque that pulls you along, bhp being more pub talk

so im considering leaving mine as it is up until stage 3 when its paid off october 2010

Roll on October 2010 for me too!

270lb/ft or torque on standard clutch is very good! Never get any slippage with that? I want more torque! :(

Yeah thats true, mines has done a good few miles now! But i pay a lot of money for it so am going to enjoy it :-) Think a high flow mani will improve thing by much?

Really want to spend money on it just now, but go a stag do in newcastle next week so need to keep a bit of cash for that!

Jeff - ok mate i might get the apr one then. Also k&n do that filter where the cone is actually inside a replica of your own air box....have you seen those? Maybe these would be ok. The airbox is actually embossed with there k&n sign so would look good aswell.

kenny - There has to be someone around who could make a custom manifold for our cars as this is somthing i would love just to finish off the engine bay after i had it painted.

apr one is a diaphram based valve - quicker acting - new lfe long reliability - no servicing - no boost leaks from weak springs as therer are no springs - as a whole is a smaller unit

forge one is older technology - works on a vacuum method of moving a piston against a spring to hold / release boost - requires yearly maintenance and servicing - as a whole is a bigger unit

Yeah that's true, although my Corrado would laugh in the face of a 250hp Polo

It's a bit more than just shoving a 2.0 TFSI in though. It's a smoother engine, has a broader spread of torque, can rev higher (less valve train weight) and attaches to the strongest gearbox VW make, so will set you up for many years of tuning :D

If our Polo GTI was mine and not the missus's, that's exactly what I would be doing!

whats in the rado

as for laugh in the face of a 250 hp polo, come on, its gotta be somethiong pretty special to disgrace it like your saying, beat it maybe, but to laugh in the face of it, what you doing, a 911turbo conversion

if its a 2.0tfsi, fair play its a more modern engine, capable of bigger output power, but iv had one and hated it, felt smooth and dull (in standard form - im sure they are better mapped and played with)

iv played with a 2.0tfsi golf mk4 and had no issues with it
