Replacement steering wheel

Post by P0l0_GTi »

I really want to change my st.wheel but wiht an airbag so ..

I have an offer for 2 stock steering wheels with airbag, Leon Cupra and TT S-line.

Does anybody know is it replacable with the GTI original st.wheel ?
I saw MK5 GTI st.wheel is replacable and i think those will fit too ?

Not too keen on that TT one myself.

I'd love something like a Momo 280mm but because of the airbag I'd never do it. I'm sure other OEM steering wheels are feasible but I don't know to what extent you have to go to, to get them fitted.

The year 2000-01 S-lines are almost the same as the TT st.wheel.

I dont think porsche will fit so easily  and my dream is RS4 st wheel and seats, but i am not going to give 500£ for a wheel :P imo the best price-quality is the TT and LEon wheels

and btw i would love to have R32 wheel, but it is extremely hard to find. And somewhere i read that airbags are replacable with R32

Having owned a GTi and now currently the S3, I don't find anything particulary special about the S3/TT/S-Line steering wheel compared to the GTi one.

GTI steering wheel is very thin and big and even doesnt look good especially on a tiny car. Even stock MK4 steering wheel is more comfortable for driving !
I noticed it when ive drived Golf 4. Its more important to be comfortable then a nice looking steering wheel.

the answer is its so difficult to fit a wheel from another car even if it is vag. i enquired about many rs4 r32 but its not worth it cos its to complicated and pricey

Are you sure ? R32 fits perfect for golf 4, and polo 6n2 fits perfect for golf 3 with airbag, imo golf4 to polo 6n2 its wont be problem :)

different splines, different mounts and different airbag connectors are the hurdle on changing steering wheels - there are a lot of factors that prevent it being done purely due to difference in size of steering racks and so on!
