Push Start Button ?????

Hi guys, I really want to install a push start button into my car.
Think it will look pretty cool
but i still want to be able to use the key to start it aswell cus i cba to push a button every time lol.

Just wondered if any 1 else has done it?
Or if any 1 can make me a wiring diagram that would help?

This is tricky as your ignition barrel has 3 parts,off, a general on, then ignition.

So you could just wire a "push to make" switch directly to the ignition wires in the ignition barrel, downside is you will need the key in and in the general on position (easiest)

or

You could have a on/off switch wired to the general on part of the ignition, followed by an addition "push to make" switch for ignition as above, again the key would need to be in the barrel for the immobilizer to detect it otherwise your engine will spin and cut out after 5 seconds.

or

Do the above but disable the immobilizer, this will allow you to use the key or the switched, but without the continuous need of the key in the barrel. Downside is disabling the immobilizer costs money, and it requires a code which you may not have and will have to obtain from the main dealers.

The wiring should also be done in parallel to the wiring in the ignition allowing both means of key and button to work.

ive put one on my mk4, not an extra button but i used my horn, the left push button to be exact ...whos going to know how to start the car with the key turned and no button visable...genius i think:D lol u need to know what your doing mind, just so the horn still works off one button
