Newbie needs Remap help! Revo or CustomCode?

Post by TonkaPolo »

Hello all,

Newbie here, in need of some of your expert information.

I pick up my (New to me) 53 Reg Polo 1.9 TDI Sport on Saturday morning.
My previous car was a '99 Golf GTI Turbo, which was running at the standard 150bhp.

I'm looking to achieve similar figures from the Polo, and was wondering what you guys thought was the best remap for it?

Revo offer 145bhp - But I've heard very mixed views of their remap?
CustomCode offer 140bhp - Although less hp, I've heard that their remap is smoother and better quality?

HELP!!

All opinions appreciated.

Cheers

Hey, just to throw something into the mix, quite alot of people on here rate more bhp. From what I hear those guys know their stuff. Sorry I've been no help, but thought I'd add to your options. Peace

don't just look at the figures they quote. every car will be different and they normly quote a bit higher to make you think 'hmm i'll get one as they seem to make it go faster'

i have a CC map on mine and it's been perfect since day one.
look for reviews rather than figures.

im running a jabbasport stage 2 map on mine had it for nearly a year and done12k on the standard clutch and still no slip , and it produces 306 lb -ft so right on the tolerance of the standard clutch but it doesnt make peak torque untill 2500 rpm so it saves the clutch as long as your careful :)

i had my 1.9 tdi sport dun from more bhp. the other companys do quote higher u usually get around 35 to 40 bhp from a standard remap. more bhp is cheap and knows his stuff ive sin him unblock ecu's that cc have blocked so he must be good

Cheers folks, thanks for your advice.

Well, I picked up the new motor on Saturday and am pleasantly surprised at the standard drive of it! :D
Punchy little motor and smooth drive.

Then I added a K&N panel filter to it, to make it more responsive...so far so good.

Regarding the remap, I'm thinking of going to Custom Code.
They have good reviews both on here and on the UK Mkivs Golf website, plus they're more local to me than More bhp and Revo.

Custom Code can expect a visit from me very soon (maybe even this Friday!) and I'll be back to report the outcome.

Will also post some pics of the Polo on here soon.
