polo 1.9tdi pd 100

Post by Dub_Dan »

hi there guys i currently own a polo 1.4 sport 100bhp and im finding it thirsty on petrol! :( iv been thinking of buying a 1.9tdi pd for the consumption but if i revo remapped it i would have 145 bhp and 225 torque roughly ? so because the diesel is heavier can i expect it to still be alot quicker than my polo and keep up with the likes of saxo's and other slightly faster cars?
would be great if anyone could help

In stock form the PD100 is faster than the 1.4 16V, despite being heavier. It's not all about BHP/tonne...torque has a significant effect too. And my remapped 1.4 TDI sees off pesky Saxo VTRs without any problems, so a 1.9 will have no problems.

Ash :)

Note: I don't condone "racing"

With a re-maped PD100 you'll keep up with golf PD 150's Beat 2.0 passats, & EAT everything else.... saxo's will be like little toys, or, certainly little specs in your mirrors!.... lol

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but all this EATING everyone else is starting to do my head in. Yeah, a 1.9 TDi remapped will beat a 2.0 TDi stock, but then a 2.0 TDI remapped will p*** all over a mapped 1.9l. Same with PD150s - remapped they push over 190 BHP. And the 2.0l NA Petrol engines are rubbish: They only put out 115 BHP in Pre 04/05 cars and 150 BHP in later cars. Compare apples to apples, not oranges :)

And regarding Saxos, I reckon a stock VTS will still be faster than a remapped 1.9 TDi Polo. Yes, remapped 1.9s are nippy, but aren't the quickest things on the road, not even close.

is it just me or is the only thing you lot do happen to be racing each other from the lights and hang onto the bumper of the car in front on the motorway :?

In real driving (A, B, Motorway and city commute) I get an indicated 52-54mpg all the time.

The car's stock apart from pd160/k&n and some careful mods to the air intake before the pd160.

If you want to run low, watch your sump 1.9TDis have very little clearance when slammed (I'm on 16x7.5, 195/45, et20, APs all the way down on the back and front to match that height). I don't clear speed pillows.
