powerpipe

hi fitted a allard powerpipe today. took it for a drive and to be honest didnt notice a whole lot of difference. fairly easy - just wondering what your mean't to do with the pipes that used to be connected to the egr valve. currently i have just cable tied them up. do i need to block the ends up? seems to run fine as it is but all the pipes and inlet manifold was covered in gunk . not sure if cleaning it all up will make much difference but when i get a free weekend might have a look at doing it as it looks fairly easy to get off. would there be any benefits from cleaning it up. would guess the powerpipe would be a good start at keeping this clean and perhaps one of these - http://www.emotors.ca/articles/128.aspx.
