Buying Advice - Polo GTI

Post by adam.jenkin »

Hi everyone,

I am looking for some buyer’s advice on buying a polo GTI.

I have a budget of between 3-4k and looking around for an 01/02 reg.

I was wondering if anyone could short list some hints / tips / things to look out for when looking around.

From having a quick browse around the forum, the first thing that stands out is gearbox failures so is there any signs of spotting this when viewing?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Adam

when viewing the car listen for noise on the left side of the car for the gearbox also put the car in between two walls i.e a garage you will here any rattles better this way! And most important is to dip the clutch! if any rattle noise disapear's while you put you foot on the clutch this is the 1st sign of box wear!

Actually, I believe that a few (and I mean few) cars were registered on 02 plates. Very Rare to find one, I have only ever seen one like it!
