Polo Type R?

Post by racerjonzo »

was just wondering wat people think about dumping a 2.0 type r engine into a polo 6n?
if it fits tht is, would yous say it was a good choice or not the proper DUB way as its a honda engine...

was thinking of doing this and styling the polo with subtle similarities to the type r ie side skirts and front and rear lips, also seats and most of interior, but with a 6n2 dash, lowered onto honda axles to fit type r alloys, widen the arches smooth most of it off, black the roof and a possible colour concept yellow scheme?

any opinions, good? bad?
cheers

if you want big power in your 6n... buy a corrado 2.8 v6 engine into it...obviously you'll need to have the gear box, clutch, and cam shaft...but it will horrendusly quick...chassi twisting torque(for real...seen a v6 powered 6n floor crack on hard acceleration) it'll be cheaper than a type r engine...plus its a dub engine so you'l be praised! as for the honda alloys, just get hub adapters for your 6n, just like the guys do for the porche alloys, as for your interior go nuts...for the exterior... a 6n gti body kit looks the dogs!

something for you to think about! :)

Its a great engine so no issues there. The dub scene usually frown upon it because its German/Jap scene conflict but I don't see anyone moaning when some peeps dump V8's in small cars lol.

As for the Type R bodystyling it will probably look really chavy. Its hard enough crying from laughter when you see a Type R badge on a Escort! Even if you have a Type R lump it'll still 'LOOK' like chavy styling. You may want to keep it hush for shock factor or just use the badge.

End of the day its all your money, time, effort and car to play with.

cheers NOZ and i can see where your coming from with the could look chavvy side, but i was just thinking of a very smooth polo with very small sublte styling similar to the type r al have to photoshop some ideas first before i go through with it
but cheers for your comments and hopefully get pricing done in a couple of weeks :)

Saw a 'Saxo Type R' at the french car show, but it was rear engined. Those engines are massive, so dunno if it would even fit, plus you would need to make all custom adapters, mounting points and get matching clutch gearbox and all that b****x. If all your after is a quick car, just either do a more reasonable swap that is tried and tested or buy a quicker car!

^^ No idea but i would've thought VR6 lumps are bigger, which still can be shoehorned into a polo!

Thought about RWD 6n with a bike engine in the back?

yea ive thought about the rear bike engines but im wanting to be able to use it everyday without drifting everywhere, although it would be cool, not good for tyres, and i would like to kepp the rear seat lol and boot space

and im still looking into other engines, the type r is just 1 of them, maybe a 1.4 TSi engine giving a similar bhp but smaller and more efficient, but then again it would be more pricey to buy...
the 1.6GTi from the 6n2 was an idea but was told the gearboxes were s**t and i dont think its got the proper oomph i want

hopefully get this off the ground soon, with bodywork and interior first while still deciding the engine

wat do yous think of the colour concept yellow for the polo?

i'm sure i have seen some where a type r engine in a mk 1 golf somewhere in the ether on the intertubes, so i reckon it would be possible. will be interested to see how this turns out. you'll have a nice choice of all the spoon parts that are made for that engine to get it going rapid as hell.

^^ True. Certain Jap lumps have too many tuning options lol.

A 6n2 GTi lump isn't worth the effort really. If you want to try something different within the VAG you could think about a G60 engine. A G40 lump is much easier but if you want mahoosive power and a rarer option the G60 is ideal.

you could do what im doing and drop a 2.0 16v audi lump in :D

but i think a type r engines a good idea. we talking about the old 1.6 vetec from the old civics? mate of mine had one that was running like 220bhp was fricking imensly powerful, scared the complete jit out of me lol. Would go like the sexy clappers in a polo i say do it! do it now, screw the costs long term pennies project! lol

and there was indeed a lime green mk1 golf with a 1.6 vetec under the bonnet. I remember people complaining about it being featured in pvw or somthing to that effect
