Tyre stretching

Post by Bannydoy_Gtizzy »

Just purchased some 15" Ronal LS and want to put 165/50 tyres on them. Can any garage do this or do i have to go to a specialist place to get the tyres fitted. Thanks

Thats quite a stretch like,

My guess is most garages will have difficulty doing that for you. 165/50 on 7j is ok but 7.5 .... Haris had that on his car. Oz turbos I think. Maybe he can shed some light

a set of ronal ls's are only 15x7.5s, 165/50s will be fine !!!

Thats a pretty serious stretch on a 7.5 - it can be done, but its not something I would recommend doing purely from a safety point of view.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread. but i have standard BBS RM's that are 6 and half standard.. fronts have a 1" lip and the rears 2" lip... does it make it front 7.5 and rears 8.5?.. If so what tyre size should i go for... I want to be safe.. but also was some poke and stretch :D

Agreed. I have known that stretch to leak air.

Try getting those tires on easily.

Prabz - Go for 185/45 on the front and get 195/45 on the rear. It will probably give you different wheel sizes though. :P

What I mean is, with a stretch the overall rolling radius can change because of the stretch pulling the tyre to a lower profile. If you miss match tires on miss-matched wheels it can cause problems on newer cars but I think you will be ok. Just thought I should mention it.

Those sizes should give you roughly the same looking stretch as well.

The 185's on the 7.5..

The 195's on the 8.5..

Measure the width of them with a tape measure to see if it's 7.5, 8 or 8.5

yeh 185s all round would work, it depends on the ET of them though, and how hard you drive the thing. If your running offsets of lower than 25 I'd maybe think about 165/50s for the front, but you can't really drive them that hard on a 7.5, especially on a FWD car.
