Made In.......!

Post by GTi_Girl »

I've just been checking out the VIN No. Interpretation site and according to this my Polo is made in Spain.

Is this right? Were they made in Spain! :?

Apparently the Y in my VIN no. means the manufacturing plant was Spain!

Anyone know any good VIN ID sites as the one I looked at was pretty unhelpful except for the above.

Thanks

:?:

Yep, that's right...

The GTi's were all made in Spain.

Maybe this thread is more helpful:

How to read your VIN number

The VIN doesn't give away too much to be honest, Was there something specific you wanted to find out?

No not really just being a bit over enthusiastic and trying to find out as much as I can about my car.

Thanks for the link. I did do a bit of searching and realise that you'd already put something together on the forum - so sorry for asking an "old" question.

What do all the letter no. combinations on the VIN No. stickers mean. I've seen some refer to the paint colour - what about the rest?

There's loads of codes on there. Most are for trim designations, so T91 could mean 'rear headrests'; that sorta thing. I've tried decyphering mine a while back, I managed to get the meaning of about half of them - it's a bit of a PITA. The process involves looking through VW's software system, trying to find the specific codes, then writing down what it means.

I'm such an anorak.

Your codes will include rear headrests, the interior colour, ABS brakes, AC, etc etc. Even down to the type of battery/alternator used...
