OEM parts. Specifically NAV system

Does anyone know where I can get the OEM NAV system for 9N model Polo. Dealers won't sell it unless the other one has gone wrong and as I don't have it in the first place...

Is the wireing loom in place or more cables needed?

Well they should sell it if your willing to pay.

Unless you're looking at swapping your gamma and paying the difference for the standard VAG Sat Nav, then the dealer could get picky.

Besides you're better of buying an aftermarket unit, the quality will be better, you'll have more options, MP3 etc.......... and it'll be cheaper.

Pioneer do some very good units one of the lads on here has a very good Pioneer install, can't remember his name though.

Simpsons in Lowestoft and Pursers in London both said they couldn't get it as a part. Something to do with it being a factory fitted option even though they admitted it was fitted post manufacture. What I want to know is what happens if the unit goes wrong on someone who has the system fitted. Poor sods!! Probably VW being VW!!

Is the radio a standard size and fit (ISO connectors etc). It has the in dash CD changer too. What about those larger 3rd party radios (double Layer) do they fit if I take out the CD changer?

I must be a saddo, but I realy like the design of the car inside and out and realy don't want to mod it (apart from the goggles and maybe larger wheels)

Is there a radio that matches the design of the blankput (It is isn't it?) with sat nav?

Welcome to the forum (possible Suffolk lad )

I think whats confused things here is VW's exchange radio system. For example, If a customers Radio broke out of Warranty they would save about £300 (surcharge) just giving the old unit back to the Dealer and only pay about £150 fo the new unit. I think an exchange unit Sat Nav works out about £700, a Brand new unit is nearl £2000

So basically the dealer won't sell you the part because they know you haven't got an equivalent unit that you can give them back. I'm suprised they never quoted you for the brand new unit though, perhaps to save you the medical bills!
I have heard of people retrofitting the Sat Nav system on VWs, but its one hell of a job! New sensors, looms, Dash Unit, Instrument Cluster. The list goes on, if you love your car enough or happen to be rich enough then it may be worth it. But to 95% of people it isn't.

What i'd like is a VW Double Din radio that holds 6 CD's and cassette and also has the mini screen in the middle, because the VW double din units look sweet and it'd be OEM

Thanks for the advice. I understood from the dealer that the Nav sys was retor fit in the factory (if that is the right wording) At the end of the assembly line if you like.

I take it DOuble Din is what I was on about earlier, but didn't know the tech name. The 6 disc CD changer (Std on sport) is kind-a-like that but actually seperate units, and Bar***ds to put back if you take them out.

Is the GALA (automatic volume leveling) function standard or an extra, as I asked my dealer to sort out my nokia HFK and all of a sudden the GALA function was noticable. (Audi TT with bose 6 speaker system (hang on mine has eight speaker) has a better version of GALA actually has mics in the cockpit rather than working on forward speed).

Just for the record I'm a Norfolk Lad. living close to Lowestoft, but currently in London.

Same here. I was after something that wouldn't look out of place on the 9n dash. So I opted for a Becker cd/radio/mp3 unit (haven't got round to fitting it yet so can't comment further on sound quality etc.). They do cd/radio/mp3 units with sat nav too.

I think most are avaliable with Blue/Red or all Red illimination. So should match the 9n dash well.

From what I gather VW have renamed Becker units as Volkwagen Individual and use them as OE too. I think 'Volkswagen Individual' is a division of VW that deals with customisation/accessories on the higher range of VW cars(?).

For Becker satnav you're looking at £1000, as above the colour match is perfect so it looks OEM.

The sound quality will be vastly better than the Gamma standard fitment plus you will have more outputs, only thing is the screen small due this being a DIN e unit.

Depends what you want?

OEM Look- I'd go for the Becker

I take it you dont know that everything can be adjusted (such as GALA)by pressing and holding in the TP button. take a glance in the manual for more info.
