Maybe my undertray sits low then but I've scraped on those ridges you get in the middle of buslanes! I should check.

The sumps aren't low - it's the darn covers that sit 3" below them. Full width speed ramps are fine, the short ones (designed so bloody 4x4s can plough over them without an issue) are where I scrape - I have to put one wheel on the bump and one in the gap to make it over. I look like I can't drive when I do this.

500 miles on a careful tank is my gauge.

As for performance, no you won't be beating the small fast hot hatches easily, not when they can rev to 50% more than you can. In gear acceleration is great and this counts for fast B road driving, but in a quarter mile sprint peak torque has almost nothing to do with it and it's about the power and gear ratios - so a similar power/weight car will be the same as you. Sure this amounts to more than a Saxo VTR (not a VTS) but a Clio sport and the new generation hot hatches will be faster. I have a remapped 100 and it's nowhere near 145bhp - think more like 130 and similar to a Polo GT now.

Remember that a car that is faster by a second or two to 60mph won't actually gain much distance. Off the lights if you can apply the torque without wheel spin and with decent tyres there won't be many FWD cars that can beat you purely because you're reaching the limit of traction - but as soon as you reach the rev limit you'll be wishing you had more power.

If you want speed, fit light 15" or 16" wheels too. I recommend the PD100 but if I had to buy again I would get the GT and remap it but to an amount that wouldn't destroy the clutch.

yes i definitely take in what you and agree to be honest, I find this to be marginally quicker than my old 1.4 sport 100 bhp, remapped is another level isnt it, i was quoted from pd tuning in Newcastle 148bhp with a custom remap where they tune the car for 3 hours, i most likely to go with these guys to be honest especially when its done properly on a rolling road!

That's right, the remap changes the car in terms of torque and revving all the way to 4500rpm. It's pretty quick but I wouldn't say it's in "hot hatch" territory - more like a warm hatch. On a fast B road you'd keep up with most things as long as the handling is looked at.

Remaps are highly recommended.
