Cheap eBay Coilovers...
...are they any good??
On a budget here, (credit crunch) obviously they are not going to compare so something like a £700 KW setup but do they do the job? I've heard they are a much firmer ride....anything else to look out for? They seem to come with a 2yr warranty also:

Think some folks on here may of had these from the same supplier before?

Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
Hello,
I have these on my car.
They are pretty stiff but not pianfully bad!!
If i was you i would take the threaded adjuster nut off the back threaded cup and have them at the bottom, also take the locking nut off the front.
I have 17" wheels on mine and this hight in my oppinion looks nice !
They are very easy to fit, or if you still doubt youself at least try the back ones (20 min job)
i will try get sum pics up of mine (bit dirty)
Hope this helps - Andrew

i had them on my polo.. now tuckers. and they are bouncy as fcuk. mine was as low as it could go at one point catching cats eyes and there is no suspension movement lol.

Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
You tend to get what you pay for with suspension, up until around £750
Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
i have had mine for about 3 weeks now and they are starting to soften up and settle in. i deffo would not say the ride was awful, could be better like lol.... do you wanna fork out an extra 300 quid for a bit more comfort?? thats what it comes down to..im chuffed with mine a full set of suspension for 189 quid?!?! p.s. they arrive very fast from belgium (faster than uk i think) you WILL need drop links tho.. dont buy the plastic ones there s**t

did you take the helper springs out the front? if you did then you would of been pushing hard against the bump stops.. you got a pic of it wen it was low?? my friend has a mx5 that catches on cat eyes..
Cheers - Andrew

Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
i had helpers out at front and just no threads at back. no pictures that show the height properly.
i ripped my engine tray off

Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
hahaha, i took the helpers out of mine (out of curiosity) bumpy as hell...
Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
Still haven't decided Good and some bad feedback I guess. But could I deal with the bumpier ride?....Probably as long as it goes round corners quicker
Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
i personally dont mind the bumps at all. i would go for it if i was you!!!!
they seem to get softer after a lil while, even the girlfriend is coming round

Re: Cheap eBay Coilovers...
I've had mine on my 6N2 GTi for around two years now, they still haven't seized and aren't horrendous. I do drive pretty slow about though because of how low I am, I can't imagine they'd be that great if you canned it into every corner.
Personally if I could do it again I would've saved up for better ones (around the £500 mark), but for the money you really can't go wrong. You just gotta think about whether suspension is something your going to save cost on, it's all down to peoples driving style and preferences.
