Different Seat's for 9n SDI

Post by dj2gud »

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to change my seats in my 9n but I can't find much info on what will go straight in?

I've been looking at stuff like this,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SEAT-LEON-SKODA-O ... _500wt_956

I have also been told Octavia seats and TT seats also fit?

Any ideas?

They fit.... if you get frames made up.

Fabia seats bolts straight in but they wont tilt forward with fabias only being 5 door. Not too sure if ibiza seats fit.

I had to get custom frames and wiring loom made up for my seats.

Yeah, whatever you do don't get rid of the airbags... no matter how good looking the seat is it's not worth replacing them unless you get side airbag ones. Those ones on eBay look pretty good if you can get them working.

DOH! A bit obvious is it not?

Safety could very well be the reason why David has stated this important feature which could very well save some one's life.

Yeah they are there for your safety and a nice safety feature to have, but what i was getting at was if your not confident with the wiring and youve spent a fortune on the seats, 1 wrong wire and BANG say good bye to your new seats.

How many people are running recaros etc.... which dont have air bags.

Cheers for the input guys!

I think I will got for the Fabia VRS option as I wanna keep things as OEM as poss so bolt in sounds good :) plus the safty feature is always a good thing!l

I assume the airbag plug on the VRS front seats will not fit the plug in the 9N and will need custom wiring?

Will the rear bench drop straight in too or will that need work, or do you guys use the OEM bench and just change the front seats?

blkpolo - Did you have to do much mod work to make you're interior fit or did it all drop straight in?

Side airbags and curtain airbags are one of the best "recent" advances in safety along with the normal airbags and pretensioners.

My point is a bit "old man and moany", but what's the price on your life, or even worst being crippled for life because you wanted a different looking seat?

Fair enough if you've wired them wrong, and ruin the seats, but I wouldn't risk it when there are so many OEM seats that will be an improvement.

I used to simulate car crashes using Finite Element analysis for a living. Next time you see a small car hit by a 4x4( which have bumpers at your thorax height) and you'll think twice about removing the airbag functionality...... These small cars are tough but there's no way around momentum hitting you in the side.

Of course, this is just my advice and take it as you wish!

hmm these are mine...they aint got side airbags so the wiring and clip that comes out the floor is not plugged into anything and so my airbag light is on.
Some folk have said I can get resistors to plug into the clip and that volkswagen can program the seats out of the equation?
thoughts?
