15 to 20 days without my Polo :-(

Post by Babe RuthLess »

Someone crashed into my car today... I was turning left at an intersection when all of a sudden BANG! this Mondeo comes out of nowhere and hits my nearside door.

There was an Alfa behind me, nobody was coming from either side of the intersection, no-one on the mirrors so... what happened???

Turns out the Mondeo overtook the Alfa (right before, or should I say across an intersection!!!), and the driver hadn't seen me until it was too late. I don't have any pictures of the damage yet (was too disturbed to use the mobile camera) but according to the dealer my car's driver's door and wheelarch panel will have to be replaced.

The Mondeo was insured so the guy's insurance is paying for everything. It's all been sorted, Police report and calls to the insurer's 0800 number etc.

But it'll be at least 15 days before I get my car back.

Now, what on earth possessed this guy to try that overtaking maneuvre??

You get all kinds of nutters on the roads. I have enough of them pointed out to me by my driving instructor. Is this on top of the earlier break in damage? You have had some bad luck there. Hope all gets sorted for you.

Cheers Karl... I'm sure down on my luck at the moment. 20 days taking the bus!

And to top it all, my bank has decided to change all my interest rates without any reason or prior notice. So now my overdraft and credit card rates have jumped from 2.49% a month to 7.29%!!

I just went went on a rampage against the poor kid taking my call to the bank's 0800 number, but I had to take this all out on someone.

Now I'm calm and heading off to get a cold beer. :)

Some strange phenomena where decent people morph into totally different characters when they get behind the wheel of a car. Seen this too many times on the road. Scary stuff.

Sorry to hear about the accident. Lucky only damage to the car tho.

Yes... The guy was very nice to me after he realized there was no way I could be blamed for the accident. He did get out of the car asking me what the h*ll I was thinking, but he soon came to his senses and saw that he had screwed up.

Sounds nasty :?

There really are some idiots about.. yesterday an escort cossie decided to overtake me and the mercedes in front around a blind corner, very nearly lost it and took out the side of the merc.. and the amount of people that overtake me regardless of how fast I'm going simply because I'm driving an old car is just shocking...

Sorry to hear about your bank too, that's a nasty hike there..

I HAVE A SEVERE PROBLEM WITH HOW SLOWLY PEOPLE IN SMALL CARS DRIVE I MUST OVERTAKE THEM

Um..... uh... sorry where was I... :) Just trying to get inside his head
(yeah that was me on the way to work last night, except in reverse, seeing as there was so many people in big mercs doing 20-under on that road again.... but i still didnt try anything quite so hare brained as that - what do you expect if you overtake at a crossroads? or on a blind corner?)

Bad luck man, I hope his insurance company screw him for a big premium come next renewal!
