Hi all,
Anyone had this happened to them? Mine (I think) snapped today while I was on the road. Not sure if its serious. Will know by tomorrow. I didn't hear any clunking noise when it happened so I hope that is a good sign. Was only 46k on the clock. Might had been my aggressive driving.
Any advise? If too expensive I might just drop in a used engine. Looking for one in the UK as this will fit my car. Anyone can help if it come to this stage? I live in Brunei Darussalam btw. While I am at it, do you think its possible to put in a bigger cc engine like a 1.6 if there is one? Thanks.
Alex
Timing belt snapped (9N3). Might get a used engine instead.

I know of somebody that had a 1.8t engine and gear box 2 weeks old 752 miles on the clock from a gti polo. I would need to check if he still has it if this is something that you are looking for.

Hi, Thanks for the response. Will a 1.8T engine go in? My original engine is 1.4. Wondering if there will need to be alot of extras to be fitted in order to make the 1.8t compatible. Also my car is an auto and I understand the 1.8t gti engine is a manual. Thanks.

Lots of work required firstly the brakes would need to be upto the job. Secondly you would need to buy the manual gear stick and associated parts for that. The engine itself would need the wiring loom and ecu so would be costly, however nothing is impossible if the funds are there and you are prepared for hard work.
Hind sight would say get the old engine repaired or replaced like for like and save the hassle.

Hi,
Ya, I am thinking the same here. If its too costly to repair, I will consider getting a similar used engine. But problem is its difficult to actually get one from where I am. Was wondering if anyone over in the UK can help seeing there are so many breaker companies there. Thanks.
