coilover help
coilover help
ive had issues since fitting coilovers a while back and need some help.basically the top cap under the bonnet doesnt touch the car when the nuts tightened fully leaving a good half inch gap,as if there isnt enough thread on the coilovers to get it clamped down snug? ive fitted the original spring seat on top of the blue spring seat supplied with the collies, but still get the gap and also knocking noises.any ideas?its like the bearing and top mount needs to be higher up.there hot tuning collies

Re: coilover help
have you fitted the other end to the axle/tie rod bit yet?
if so undo this so you can tighten or at least fit the top first, then pull the other end down to fit.. they will be shorter hence, they are coillies after all, if your not sure yourself take it to a garage, dont want any accidents now, do we?

Re: coilover help
it doesnt tighten anymore as the nuts travelled the full thread under the bonnet, when i fit the bearing and top mount on do i fit the original nut on top?ive done this and its as if its too low down and doesnt give it the tight fit when fitted

Re: coilover help
have you put everything back in the correct order mate? there have been instances where people put bits in upside down or back to front, and it messes up the setup of the springs.
On the polos, you use the existing top mount, seat and bearings generally.

Re: coilover help
i think you are missing a top cap mate that holds it into the chassis. what bits have you got spare
Re: coilover help
that was without the top cap fitted lol just wanted to show how the nut sits underneath the cap
when i fully tighten the top cap down it hits the nut underneath leaving the gap
