Aux in adapter for standard VW Gamma radio

Post by owenjt »

I want to get an aux in adapter so i can plug my mp3 player into my standard VW Gamma radio, but i'm not sure which to get. I've got the standard 6-disc changer hooked up but there is a slot free (although small). This - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AUX-Line-IN-adapt ... 19b46df744 - looks like it might work but i don't have enough slots free to fit it. Is it a case of taking out the cd changer connection and replacing with this? Can you have both?

the aux in connects to the changer input so you would lose the changer you can only have one or the other not both i'm afraid
plus that lead is not the correct one for you car you need one of these
http://im.edirectory.co.uk/p/4148/i/ctvvgx001.jpg or one of these
autolead part number pc7-108a

yes that will work but make sure you turn the volume level on your mp3 player down as if it is turned up too high the sound will be distorted
that why i reccomended the ones i linked to as these use the dedicated line output for distortion free listening

which one did you order mate? If its the one you linked to on ebay, that wont work, as VW headunits, although made by blaupunkt, dont support Aux In. The headunit has to be tricked into thinking there is a cd changer connected, and then it will work (but there is a dedicated kit for this)

I would hope he knows that lol. As for the cable you need, something like this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Aux-in-Ipod-I ... _875wt_941

they arent cheap though as it has to have a convertor box, so it may be wise to look into a different headunit instead
