Strange Window Problem

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this so. (sorry if it isnt mods)

I have been having a few strange issues with my drivers side window for the last few days. Normally i would press the window switch and the window would operate. (without the need for me to hold it down)

Now sometimes its fine, other times i have to hold the switch to fully lower the window and other times the window will would stop 3/4 from the top then id have to press it again for it to close...


Any idea on whats happening

mine does this if i fit a bump as it is going up sometimes its the saftey device on it so you cant trap your fingers.
however the window needs reprograming after this which is done by holding it all the way up and then all the way down.
so this could be the issue you are having

If you have a power cut then the one touch windows need a reset. The ignition needs to be switched one down from everything on (if that makes sense), then wind all the way down (hold for a bit), then all the way up (hold for a bit). The poster above got it too.

A reset is required but not as has been described what you have to do is have you windows down fully take the key out of the ignition lock and get out of the car and lock the door but holding the key in the locking position and the windows will both come up once they have reached the top the window mechanism will then be reset very simple and very effective. another hint is to clean the glass that you normally dont see when they are closed.

Really? Thats interesting and I'll remember that but my method works every time.

The method that I have described above is alledgedly the preferred method used by VW. I have used it a couple of times and it has been fine.

I used the "holding both the switches up until a clicking noise" and this worked.
