Sidelight Change

Post by the_mini_mole »

Hi guys, I have a sidelight gone in my Polo, and have looked in the handbook about changing it but it says take it to a VW dealer- I had a look in the engine bay at the back of the unit but I couldn't see any way of removing the bulb, but Shirley there must be a much easier (cheaper) way than taking it to a dealership?

Thanks in advance
James

Have a look in the how to guides section of the forum, there are a couple of guides in there :)

Doh! Totally missed that. Looks good, bookmarked, lol.

Also I was thinking of changing to white sidelights- are these any good? http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/501194t10-si ... -1614.html

If not are there any recommendations that are good?

From personal experience, i wouldnt replace with the led sidelights as every set i have had fail after just a few months and its a pain to change them. Some phillips blue sidelights would be a good bet as they shine a nice white

They do need changing- one is gone and I normally always have my sidelights on (easier to see dials and easier to be seen)

I agree it is abit of a bastard to change these, but as you say if ones blown it's necessary.I would reccomend these LED's,i have them and am aware a few other members on here do too and rate them.If you buy cheap s**t ones then expect them to blow they will be made poorly, same with all cheap electronic goods.

Those are the ones ive recently purchased also. I made the mistake of buying cheap ones first DOH! haha

These just look and feel a ton better in quality, and hopefully they will last

Get the ones Brad posted and be done! 8)

I've had them for two years now, and still work great.
