Will my car fall apart if I take the door panel off?

Post by AshLeMacq »

Ok so my passenger side speaker is giving me some serious jip. I think it's a loose connection. Is removing the door panel easy enough? will I ever be able to get it back on lol?

HELP :D

as long as you are careful i dont think it is a problem. i tried quickly to see if i could get mine off easily and it was ok, i just wanted to see if it unclipps ok. i did not take it all the way off tho i wasnt sure how you do the handle bit.
i wanted to take it off because i need the internal opening door handeladjusted. the crome one. i need this done because you have to pul back the handle a long way to open the door. i think there must be a cable or something behined there that needs tightening or something. anyone know how to do adjust it?

ok to remove te panell yo uneed to remove the 2 hodden screws under the middle of the main handle (easiest way to get this off is to pull the insde trigger and then put your finger in the gap behind it and pull, then remove the 2 large screws) theres a small blach counterssunk screw near the wirror on the front edge which needs removing and then its clips only (oh yeah un screw the door pin too) once loose if you have manual mirrors theres 3 small phillips screws holding on the adjuster. as for the trigger adjustment its a solid bar so id check the ends arnt damaged and if its the bar thats too long you could try kinking it of cut it and then use a large terminal connecter to re attach the ends with an over lap

Well i found the screw near the mirror so i unscrewed it. I couldnt find hidden screws anywhere so i tried to rip the door panel off that kinda almost nearly worked but didnt. So i tried to put the door panel back on and it's sitting pretty well apart from it's totaly wrong at the top and it doesnt quite want to sit right.

I'm never EVER touching that car again lol. Unless I'm driving it off course.
Thanks for your help :)

Ok Update.

I have now had the one screw near the mirror off and two large gold screws.

But the door panel still seems no where near like coming off.

One, Now do I disconnect the interior door handle and manual window thing. Surely if I pull the door panel off this will cause mega damage lol.

Any more advie. Got a bit closer this time :D

Which one is the doorpin again?

Also no I didnt unclip it all the way around because i was woried about the doorhandle (which seemed to be connected to a metal dealy via a hook and I was also worried about the windy bit for the window.

 indeed lmao

That said I could have unclipped it all around but i thought it would wreck the car and cost me 400 quid to fix

pin

Post by jon_poloV »

the door pin is the door lock that pops up and down. you push it down to lock the doors and you pull it up to open the door.

Yes I took the door pin off.

Now the situation is I have taken out all the screw however. I can not disconnect the window windy bit or the connector on the door handle.

I really have no idea how to get this panel off now lol.

Any suggestions anyone?

ok its easy peasy.
the thing is dont be scared to do it. thats wots holding u up.
i had the same fear b4 i took mine off...was scared id snap the wires, break the door cards, break the clip....but i assure u none of thta will happen if u are gentle and confident :D
after u have taken all the screw out etc... from the bottom unclip the card and work ur way round the door.
basically i used a flat screwdriver to wrench the card away (at the bottom outer corner) to begin with and then i used my hands for the rest.
pull the inside lever/handle like ud open the door, all the way back and slip it through the card as u are taking the card off (basically the handle is not attached to the door card its attached to the door), at the same time lift the door card to get it over the doorpin. so pull out and up. dont be scared to use a little force as there are clips at the top too.
once the card is off u can unplug the wires. :D
hope this helps, i know im a bit lame at explaining stuff. but i assure u there is nothing to be scared of.
anymore help gimme me a shout.

u have electric front windows no?
well the little key pad things is actually attached to the door card but is wired up like the speakers. u can unplug it wen u take the card off. and if for any reason u need to take the key pad off the card it has sum catches which u push in and u can slide it out. :D
hope that helps.
