first thing do tt 312mm brakes fit on a gt and under the 16 inch for front
and do the rear brakes off an octavia vrs fit ??

you need the mk1 octy 2wd brakes. as i think the 4wd ones don't fit. and yes..

you've opened 2 threads too :roll:

yes the 312mm do fit. and the back also fit.

IF YOU HAVE 288MM BRAKES TO START WITH

Anyone got a parts list for convertion standard polo brakes to 312s and converting the rear drums to 256s??

i have been told that the rear 256 off a tt or golf 4motion will fit as well could you tell me if this is true or if not y not

If you have a polo GT or a GTi then you will have 288mm fron discs and what ever the rears are. If you have a 'normal' polo with 256mm fronts or smaller then you will need to change the hubs to them found on the 288mm polo's. Not sure why but something about swapping the caliper carriers. Same again on the rears, if you have 288mm fronts then 256mm will be a straight swap for the back. not too sure about drums, sure someone will know though :)

The reason you need to change the front hubs of the "lesser" models is that their calliper carriers are part of the hub assembly - the "higher" models have seperate calliper carriers - so they just need changing to suit the bigger discs - converting rear drums to discs is a bit bigger a task and the handbrake cables also need replacing.
