Steering Wheel "play"

Post by BobbyG »

Yo,

There seems to be a small amount of "play" in my steering wheel/column, and in addition to this the steering wheel is slightly off centre when the car is moving in a straight line (tracking has been done).

Has anyone got an idea what parts could be causing this?

Same here, assuming you dont have any play in the track rod ends, it will be just play in the steering wheel column shaft where it joins the rack. It is found under the plastic cover under the pedals. Theres no easy way to solve this. Interestingly the ibiza cupras around this age have a bolt through the shaft to stop this.

Regarding the wonky steering wheel, you could take it off and put it back on straight but as ive found out, it is MUCH easier said than done!

Hmmm....shame this because it really ruins the driving experience!

My car gets on my t1ts. There you go, I've said it.
