your clutch is the most likely point of failure with that kind of torque. much plans for that?

yer mate well when i get the car done its all going to be done at once, injectors, pd150 turbo, intercooler exhaust they said i dont need to change and ill be getting a sach's clutch which is a heavy duty clutch with a single flywheel. 2kishhh ouch... lol but it will be worth it plus ill still do good on diesel if i dont rev it

Just to note...

I had a full custom map done for £346.... thats including VAT.... you just need to know the right people and go to the right places

I couldn't recommend Paul at RS tuning enough, incredible service, I told him what I wanted, he gave me it (dont be childish...)

Have to admit changing it all would be great... but I think for my PD100 she can stay at 140.. & when I get a GT TDI 170 golf... I'll look into getting 200 out of that... since I know one of the most annoying things with the polo is the fact that it doesn't have TC... were as the golf does... & let me tell you. the golf p***'s on me off the line, no matter how hard I try it just wont move off the line quite like the golf, even if you swop drivers...

Plus, the cost is just so expensive to do it. when like it's said, pay 1K more for a GT if that, & you've already got the power, you simply just need a map!

sure a polo with 175 bhp is pretty fun but it wont kill the petrol hatches like people are saying it will keep up aye but not beat them badly they have more revs to play with so when the derv goes for the next gear they will have ya , and with all the torque its hard to get it to the road wheels just spin like mad , and the derv engine adds an extra bit of weight.

aye but did his not have a peloquin limited slip diff fitted? , over a short distance yeah the tdi would have the edge as cars acceleration matches the torque curve exactly but over a standing 1/4 mile id think a civic type r would have it due to the longer gears and more revs so changes aint so early ?

shorter gear ratios are better for accel my mates have proven this with same just different box closer range won

On a 1/4 mile it's simply power to weight, torque plays relatively little part in the end. On a twisty B road torque has a lot more effect as you can stay in gear and really fly.

You can see this by looking at any stats on 1/4 mile runs. A 175bhp diesel Polo would match a 175bhp petrol Polo of the same weight. So off the lights your 180bhp diesel polo would match a 180bhp clio cup (ignoring weight).

Torque indicates the ability to do work and twisting force but to utilise this you need to have the right gears, power is proportional to how much energy you can put to the wheels. The same energy is coming out of the fuel at the end of the day with same power cars regardless of fuel.

I'd rather drive a torquey car on my daily commute however, and get 55mpg
