Lowwering...

Post by dub6n2 »

Hi, I wish to know what could possibly happen if I change the springs to lets say 40mm lower on standard shocks? Would the shocks eventually break up because of more sharp bumps caused by the lowered springs?? tks a lot

if you lower 40mm on standard its fine any more can cause problems but i have heard of people doing 60 and it has been ok. would advise coilovers though.

most people who get springs end up getting coileys a year or so later anyway mate may aswell save and get coileys i have ta technix as i this 90% of us on here do and there ok a bit stiff as can be expected from cheap coileys but get the job done and ive never had them scrape even with a car full of people and that was at i think 110mm lowered it used to be slammed but i took it up 2 inces after i crashed

but my car will... SHOULD be fixed in the next few weeks and then she will be looking better than ever :D and back down to the floor she will go :D

I would definitely prefer coilies but aren't they very uncomfortable to drive if they are cheap? Especially in my country with a lot of potholes  !! And when lowering 6N2 polos are there any other moods that need to be done ?

I am actually very interested in this HOTTUNING set ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COIL-OVER-COILOVE ... 5d27aa8cae

what do you think?

I made my research and found many that broke the standard shocks on lowered springs :( and I was opting for AP coilovers but now I am thinking if I should lower it or not after all because our roads here where I live are as bad as fuc*k and I am already annoyed by the car rattling over bumps like an old piece of crap let alone if I'll be on coilies!!! I am already running on tire a bit lowered pressure so to go a bit smoother

I ran 45mm springs on standard shocks for almost two years and didnt have any problems at all - its not much of a drop...it just becomes a little bit bouncy!

the problem is that after taking some measurments for me to be worth lowering I'll have to go 55mm or lower and that will most likely damage the standard shocks :| . so I'll have to decide whether to sacrifice the ride comfort an run on coilies or stay where I am

ive got 200 quid ta-technix at about 100mm low was running around 130mm and even then it was fine and yeah there a bit stiffer than standard suspencion but its not uncomfortable by any means even with a carfull its ok ive only got one friend who isnt so keen on the comfortability but thats cause he drives an 70 grand land rover. even my mate with a grand and a half fk highsports on his 9n is supprised by thier comfort levels
