OEM Style Car Mats

Post by BobbyG »

Hi,

I think I'm right in thinking thta VW don't sell the "official" 6N2 GTi mats anymore.

Has anyone bought any aftermarket versions? There are various car mat tailoring companies about which seem to be my preferred option at the moment. (I'm looking for OEM look black/grey with red stitching).

Any advice/experiences welcome!

I had the same problem. I got myself a new set for Christmas from this site;

http://www.mycarmats.co.uk/acatalog/Vol ... _Mats.html

Ive gone for the most expensive ones in black and red. They fit perfectly with the anchor points etc, just look a little darker than the VW ones. They also look pretty well made, better than the originals id say.

I have one picture I took the other day, would take more but its dark and -2 deg lol. Anyways, really doesnt do it justice, they do look a lot better in the flesh. May have something to do with my cheapy camera and crap photography skills.

These have a heel pad thing on too, which makes it look non oem, but this was were a hole was in my last set, so thought it was worth going for, but this is an option. I managed to get hold of a near new set of VW mats on here the other day though (for best lol), so there are still some around :D

The original mats are still available at my local dealer. :)

I've always thought about getting custom mats, with the GTi logo printed on, but didn't know if it would look good - Neil, you've now made my mind up lol

I had some right tatty mats in it when i bought it, seen these at a show and bought them as they looked pretty cool.

The fit is just right and there are certainly hard wearing (spilt milkshake on them and got chewing gum stuck to one of them them) but they always come up looking brand new when i clean them.

Haha nice one mate.The standard GTI mats are basically a dark grey colour simular to the carpet then have a red trim all the way around them and the small anchor mounts so they don't slide around.I may have to try source another set as backups.

If they are being ordered in from Germany, you wont be able to get a refund so you know. All special order parts are non returnable.
