Polo 1.4 Diesel Induction Kit?

Post by MODDED9N »

Hi... I was wondering if anybody could shed some light on whether it is a good idea to get an induction kit for my 2004 1.4 diesel polo.. All i want it for is to squeeze that little extra power out of the engine and give it a nicer sounding engine noise as it isn't the nicest noise as standard. If so does anybody have any good sites or makes i should go to or choose to buy a kit? :
Thanks...

induction will not give you any power gains on a diesel will just give you a bit of sound, best thing for performance is a remap, its cheap and makes a whopping difference

well i have the same car as you but in the 1.9tdi if you remap it you will get the power, if you put on a straight through exhaust (with no insides) it will give you sound. thats what i currently have on mine and it sounds pretty nice

mate tbh i would leave the induction the way it is on this car, its designed to work with whats its got to be honest and i cant see a induction kit making a massive difference (if not making it worse), go with the remap with a proper decent company, you can get to 110 bhp from 75 bhp so its a nice jump it will transform the drive. i could recommend jabbasport or P-torque. and like the other guy said maybe de-cat your exhaust not only will you get the sound but you'll notice a smoother drive as there are no restrictions with air flow and even top end speed will improve. (correct me if im wrong but it is legal to have a de-catted diesel so MOT wont be a problem).

pure s**t mate if its not a decent one youll end up getting flat spots and smoke from the back, get a proper map bud and really notice the difference.

define "diy remap". RichardBW did mnine and it's fine. You can DIY if you use the Bluefin and that is also fine. A friend did a DIY fitting of a powerbox on his Ibiza 160 and that was also excellent.

Too much of a sweeping generalisation. Just go with what's recommended from people who've had the remap done and can give real life feedback. I got a mild remap done and it's gentle on the clutch but probably up at 130bhp at a guess. No issues with ECU lights of smoke, and not too aggressive to damage clutches / turn the EGR light on and so on.

I'm talking about one of those remap kits you buy of the internet and you remap your car yourself using that.

morebhp does this - http://www.more-bhp.com/more-bhp-m-flas ... uning.html would guess its like the bluefin etc and give you the option to have several remaps. had jason do my car and the remap was spot on - no black smoke or flatspots.
