i got a fresh one off another polo gti, mine was totally destroyed and the one i got had only done 50k before being recon'd.

There is a bloke in derby who recons them, he's been doing it for years.

the car goes in to gear fine, its jus makes a noise when in gear - and even when in neutral!

Could well be a damaged release bearing and or slider....only one way to find out...

But whilst the box is out you might as well get it inspected...

Nicole transmission in kidiminster know there stuff!

You could always buy the available ones off eBay for £495 if there's no way at all for yours to be recon'd?

need to get hold of one thats been rebuilt asap, if any one knows any numbers for any one that might have them (derby etc) post em up please :-)

theres a VW gearbox specialist in kent i think who have quoted £395+ 100 for not giving my box (as its case is broke) +30 delivery + VAT coming to about £616 - might have to go for that unless theres one somewhere for cheaper!!

£600 for just the box is slightly too much. i got one off a bloke who recons them in derby for £300 exchange, cant imagine he'd stick another £300 on if i hadn't given him my box.
