Slightly Odd Hesitation Issue

Post by the_mini_mole »

This morning I was driving to work along a dual carrigeway and put my foot down in 5th at about 65/70mph and the car hesitated for a second before picking up, however it only did this a couple of times, and was fine the rest of the journey, no matter how hard I tried to get it to do it. I had been driving about half an hour so the car was warm and I had been driving at a constant speed for most of that time (about 25mins) I wonder weather It was just a little blip, or maybe a bit of moisture in the fuel or under the dizzy cap?
Any help is much appreciated, im not afraid to get my hands dirty, lol.

There is no dizzy cap - its all electronic on these :P

Could be a faulty cam sender - mine had this , and was having a similar problem. replaced it and all went away :)

Ah, i'm used to fiddling with old stuff that's got dizzy caps and rotor arms and contact beakers, lol. Ok, I will have a look into that, is it expensive?

Its about £14 ish I think from the dealers.

Its the sensor on the righthand side of the top of the rocker cover (located underneath the plastic engine cover)

Cam sensor is £26.22 including the VAT - Or so it was when I bought one from VW in October last year.

Piece of cake to change too.

Well that's what they robbed me of. £22.80 before VAT.

If your HT leads are breaking down, a little bit of heat and moisture can cause them to arc when you load the engine up to accelerate.... If they are origional, or have not been replaced for some time... might be worth looking at!

Mine went near the plug socket where they had started to stretch due to being pulled on and off...
