I've been thinking of putting som 8x15" Schmidt Modernline rims with 195/45-15 wheels on my GTI...
But then it wouldn't look right without lowering the car.
I would if possible like to avoid coilovers. So after looking at the thread about Eibach springs on GTI's I got to thinking if it would be possible to lower the car by using springs instead of coilovers...
But my problem is if it would rub or give problems if I hit a bump a little to fast...
Anybody have any experience in that area???
wide wheels and Eibach springs. Will it work?

It shouldnt make too much difference, apart from the ride being firmer (ie the shock, being compressed, wont absorb as much impact as say a full spring and shock kit designed to take that kind of drop). If you are going for springs with wide wheels, id get the shocks to match personally.

Stance won't look right IMO.
If your going with wide wheels, go with a low stance. I had 8X15 ET 25 TH Monos on standard height, that was a joke. I fitted coilovers to around 60mm, and it still didn't look right.
I'm down about 85mm+ all round, and it looks so much better.
Also, if your going to get 15X8s, get 185/45 tyres.

I totally agree with tim, with modern lines you need a massive drop, well thats down to you but it wont look right otherwiseTim_GTi wrote:Stance won't look right IMO.
