new polo gti owner

Post by bond007 »

just a quick hello, picked up my polo last week, some of you may have seen it on ebay its a 2000 silver one it had no MOT and engine management light was on, took a bit of a flyer as there was only 1 picture of it but got it cheap so it was worth a punt. picked the car up, seemed ok just a bit chavved up and a little bonus the management light went out on the drive back home. took it for its test the day after and it failed on 2 tyres. all in all very cheap gti. just working through some niggles i've had the ns window motor changed, new parcel shelves with no holes, on the lookout for a standard back box as this has scorpion twin dtm style on it but its ok for now, just got a window switch to change then she's ready to roll. just one more thing i work for TPS and i'm sure most of you will be familiar with them so if anybody wants any part numbers just pm me and i'll email you back asap :D

Cool,
What have you got planned for the car then?
Are you going for the OEM clean look or more down the Euro style route.

Ahrite nice one,
Sounds like its running on Coilovers with the dodgy ride but best to check it out on the ramps.
Did you have the 2.0T vRS or the TDi model? I really do like the Octavia's, really smart car. My mate has a Fabia vRS and I have been on a couple of the Briskoda meets with him, really quick cars especially when they've been mapped.

Your probably already aware of the faults on the Polo such as the Gearboxes, Cambelt tensioners & pedal box but they are great little cars, very rare too as you mentioned. Look forward to seeing some pics of it

i had a mk1 octavia vrs the 1.8 20v turbo, loved it but couldnt justify keeping it as the mrs couldnt get insured on it, had a flick through the service history etc and it had a receipt for a new box and clutch (main dealer aswell) and the recall on the pedal box. we do loads of pedal boxes at work. not heard about the cambelt tensioner one but i'll just get a kit and water pump done as theres nothing in the service history as to when it was last done, tonights job is stereo out and cd player in and find out why the front speakers dont work
