Oil Warning Light?

Hello
Just wondering if this is a common fault?.
Everytime im driving at a sustainable speed over 80mph my low oil warning light comes on
Could it be that my oil pump is on its way out and not picking oil up quick enough for the engine?
Has anyone else had this problem with their 9N??

All very sensible suggestion - also wipe the dip stick and dip the oil a second time as it seems that some of these engines will "show" an over full level on the dip stick even when the car has not been run for days!

I work in a garage environment, course i have checked the oil. It seems to be when you open the bonnet and check it, the warning light will disappear until you drive sustainably at speed again. Ive heard that the car will know when you open the bonnet to check through some anti theft sensor?

As you work in a garage environment you should know that an indicated "low oil level" is completely different to low oil pressure! As said already, the car knows when the bonnet has been opened, so clears the logged warning and starts checking it again. I'd reckon that if the oil level with a stationary engine is okay after wiping the dip stick - ie not too high or too low, then as there is not much there to stop the circulated oil returning into the sump pan, then the finger does point towards the oil level monitoring module - they have been known to fail. Might be a suitable one on ebay right now - you never know. Or, check its wiring and contacts

By the way, I'd reckon that none of us here are psychic so don't have any idea as to your technical abilities.
