Glow Plug warning light.

Post by KLAUD »

My rear lights are now working PROPERLY again.(see earlier post) However this has been at some expense. No idea how this happened....but after some tinkering and getting the lights working...my car would start and then cut out! There was no lights at on all on the dashboard when the ignition was on! Had no idea what was wrong, and in the end I had my car recovered to a local garage. The lights are now working and the car does run without any problems...GREAT!! But.....the GLOW PLUG warning light is constantly flashing. The garage told me it was to do with the BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH and ordered me a new one. Had this fitted today....and am no further forward!...the mechanic has suggested that I POSSIBLY have the wrong bulbs in the lights!!!...Surely it can't be that...the car has ran for the last two months without any problems. Any clues or idea's?????

For the price of a couple of bulbs - why not try that first - but make sure that you are really buying the correct bulbs as some application lists - maybe Halfords for instance, seem to get it wrong for these cars, only problem with that advice is that you probably don't have any original correct bulbs to check for referance. Maybe buy a couple from your local VW garage as they should end up giving you the correct ones! Being able to "get the bulbs in to" the bulb holder does not mean that you have bought the correct bulbs.
