I recently fitted a k&n panel filter to mine mate, no obvious difference in sound/peformance to be honest but I suppose thats not what there for. Arguebly a waste of money but it was only £32 and will never need to be replaced. If its a bit of noise your after and pehaps 2/3bhp then a bmc air filters a better option but obviously a lot more ££ than a panel k&n

As above really, ive got a green cotton panel filter in mine.Does what it says on the tin,no need to replace it ever just give it a wash every now and then.As mentioned above if you're after abit of noise and possibly if you're lucky a few extra horse opt for a decent induction kit like the BMC CDA coupled with a decent cold air feed should give you best results.

Nah it's not noise I'm looking for, simply a good and clean airflow. They seem to be a relatively inexpensive item too which pleases me!

I'll have a look at my current filter and see what kind of state it's in before I make my decision...

They are good so long as you dont over oil them or they can cause problems! The performance gain in next to nothing, and to be fair, OEM filters are very good quality.

The BMC generates a lovely sounds when accelerating, it really does compliment the GTI's engine note.

I highly recommend them, they look great under the bonnet too :). They are expensive compared to a panel filter but that induction note is worth paying for
