BBS Refurb - VM8 Torx bolts

Post by 6N2 GTI 00 »

I am planning on refurbing my 15" & 16" BBS wheels in the next 2 weeks and I have prepared all the bits I need including the pain stripper, several grades of wet & dry, metal polish etc etc but the one Item I still need to purchase is the VM8 torx bit (12 point).

I had a T40 which I thought would do the job but it is slightly too small and unfortunately is not suitable.

The VM8 bits seem to be fairly difficult to get hold off but I have found some on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cr-V-M8-Spline-12 ... 3cab973de4

Can anybody just confirm that this is the right bit because I want to make a start on these ASAP.

Cheers Guys :D

From experience I would order at least 3 as they take some grief when trying to remove the bolts, they need to fit as tightly as possible to avoid rounding off the heads.

I think for VW owners its best to buy a kit, as theres all sorts of the spline bolts over the car!

So long as you soak all the bolts on the BBS in WD40 prior to removal, you should have no problem whatsoever getting them undone.
