I gt the cupholder off ebay. It was about £37 postage included, steep enuff for such a small part, but they r pretty hard to come by. I had a quick look on ETKA for you and it seems that the lupo one is a different bracket. it looks very similar but its a different part number. But the cup holder component (the bit that pops out) is the same so if you have a lupo one handy you can put the cup holders from it into your existing bracket and put it back in the car, a double one would be handy. Im going to raid the local scrapyard tomorrow, looking 4 a gti splitter.

Yea the red trim thing is pretty faded. Been on about a year nw, problem is i glued it to the grill because it kept falling out, so it mite be hastle taking it off. You wouldnt happen to know any tricks for dissolving super glue would ya?

Bit the bullet today and shelled out for a GTI splitter from the dealership. Only to get home and realise they've ordered the notmal crappy black trim! And now they're closed for the day, so i'll have to wait till monday to get them to order the right bit frm england! VW in belfast is useless!

your in luck... napthalene aka lighter fluid, or acetone i.e. nail polish remover but it has to be for real nails not fake nails (the fake one wont have enough acetone concentrate to dissolve the glue) and dont leave either on your paint for too long... another solution is heat but as its super glue itd need to be to a level where it could possibly damage your paint.

yes i am a geek i am aware of this 8)

thanks mate but you may be too late. I have a real dilema on my hands. I've been offered a 150bhp Bora, Thd price is good, the car is spotless and the insurance is only £50 more than for the polo! What to do???????

Thanks red. I've decided to hang onto my polo. I really want the bora, (and the 150bhp that goes with it!) but i cant bring myself to sell the polo. Guy came to see it today and offerd gd money but I just cant sell it! I've put too much effort into it to just go and sell it! Im gona take the money i was gona use to but the bora and spent it on the polo!:D Brake upgrade and remap definitely first on the list

My 6n2 TDI Update

Post by d_austin974 »

So i gave the polo a few updates over the last few weeks. The first and smallest was a sunglasses holder from a bora and the second was a set of 8000k HID's.

Before

After

HID's i was torn between the 6000k and the 8000k set. Decided on the 8000's. Im really happy with the results.
You can see the difference between the HID and the standard bulb here.

Its hard to see quite how bright the xenons are in the photos but they are amazing! My favourite mod so far!

I've also ordered some 8000k sidelights. The standard yellow ones look awful in comparison with the HID's. And some new red trim to replace the faded one around my front grill. Wind deflectors all around. Im considering HID's for the fog lights aswell but my immediate plans are a brake upgrade (greenstuff pads and black diamond disks, aswell as new shoes and a handbrake tighten on the drums) and a remap, extra 35hp please!!! Plans for lowering are being put on the back burner for the time being.

The sunglasses mod is cool, never got round to buying one. Did you get the one from the bora?

Also love your HID's :)
