Sourced all the parts and the body shop started working on the car, they rang saying the front (slam) panel did not fit. It was a copy part and so I thought that was why it was not fitting, the bonnet would not close.
So I ordered a front panel from a VW dealer, quoting the reg and vin numbers.
Picked up the part and it was exactly the same as the copy, could not tell the difference fitting wise. This panel also did not fit.
Luckily I still had the piece of the slam panel which came with the car (bottom half of the slam panel, the top part could not be found at the body shop). I took this to a VW dealer and they found a part number on it, once they had completed the checks they told me that there was no way this part has come off a polo. They told me the front panel was from a 2005+ passat.
I spoke to the body shop and they said that it was definitely the part they stripped off the front of my car, they had not done any passats around the time of me dropping my car off. As you can see below, prior to picking the car up the front panel is still within the engine bay area.
Can anyone shed some light on this???????? Do the pictures listed below look normal??????????
I’m totally confused
