Whats my GTi worth???

Post by nordicmatter »

Hi all

i will be selling my partners 2000 W reg 5 dr 56,000 mile gti soon and i need an idea of what to advertise it at. the car is black and is in imaculate condition 1 previous owner for 19 years full Volkswagen history last serviced 1500 miles ago with a new clutch (is now lighter to use than my 2010 Golf) and 4 wheels properly refurbed exchange from VW, the car is a 5dr and i find it difficult to find cars to compare prices with as most are 3drs.

Thanks in advance

Mark

1 previous owner for 19 years? Surely thats a typo mate?

5drs generally go for less. Your probably looking at 3500-3750ish with a FSH and low mileage like that.

Hi Mark,

It's difficult to give an exact figure as to what it's worth but if the condition of the car is as good as you say it is then I would expect the car to be worth £3,250 to £3,500.

56,000 miles is low for a GTI plus its got the benefit of a full VW service history, new clutch & service and freshly refurbed alloy wheels which are huge benefits for someone buying a GTI.
The 3 doors are more sought after in most cases but if I was you I would be advertising it for £3,500.

Its only really an extremely low mileage GTI that will hit the £4,000 mark, or a car with the full OEM leather interior.

Good luck selling

As mentioned before,if the condition of the car and mileage are what you say they are i would start advertising it at the higher end of £3000.

I would personally put it up for £3750,if it takes a while to sell or interest is low at least you can then reduce the price. The main things that let these cars down is that the average condition one has been very neglected, often poor service history, high mileage, plenty of previous owners and generally poor condition. The mileage of your car and service history of it should keep it up there away from the bad of the bunch.

Has your car got any factory optional extra's fitted to it?, as they can be quite rare small things like this can boost the price up alittle.

When you decide to sell it i would recommend advertising it on the following two sites,it's free to advertise and should see some strong interest from enthuiasts.

:? Never understood why Polo GTI's go for what in my opinion such low prices....compared to say mk4 Golf GTI's - them things still hold a good value even at high mileage.

When you think how rare a car the 6n2 polo gti is and the spec on them....125bhp,xenons,climatronic,alloys,front washers...the list goes on and on....

its just shocks me as to why??? or is it just me and I am being naive becuase I loooove my polo

Im in the same boat as you,i think it's because of how many crappy ones there are out there it lets the others down.

They are very good little cars and packed with everything you could want.

Hi all

The car is immaculate with no problems or storys and the last owner was for 9 years (typo) the wheels are as brand new and i must admit they transform the look of the car, not cheap but thoughly recommend people get them done, also worth mentioning is when the clutch was being done i had the clutch input shaft removed cleaned and re greased as i feel this is half the problem with having a heavy pedal, 1/2 hour labour and 2x £1.65 clips, you can now press the pedal with your little finger. Thanks for your input and i think i might also put it for sale on pistonheads.

Thanks mark
