Anyone bought any replacement tyres for their Polo GTI (V rated only)?
Anyone recommend any that are good, grippy and good value?
e.g. Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Toyo, Yokohama, Avon CR500 seem to be used a lot? And then there's the supplied Dunlop 2000 tyres. Any others?
I was thinking about something like Yokohama AVS-Sport - 15" Tyres - one of these is around £54.99 for the 195/45/R15 78V Tyre, but this is sold on the web.
Can we have a debate on what ones we think are best value for money overall?

I've got Pirelli P5000 Dragos on the front, they look smart and they're fairly grippy. Last a fair while too. I've been phoning round for another one today and I've found one for £57! all the other quotes were mostly £63-70...
on the back I've got Marshall Power Racer-II
which will probably last for ever (my polo now quite often 4 wheel drifts rather than understeers!)...dont get the marshalls!!

They're the best out there, and I've tried loads!
I had 10k out of my Goodyears on the fronts but only 5k with the Toyos on the fronts (rears last for ages using either).
The Toyos are amazing, and are only 50 quid each all in, but they don't last too long on the front.

Cheap or expensive
Yeah, thanks for the info all. 
It's a measure of cheap tyres vs the expensive ones, but what we ultimately all want is good grip and long life in he tyres I guess.
Think I will get a major brand then as I want good tyres on my GTI as I've just bought it and want to keep it on the road.
The softer the rubber, the better the grip, but then on the front this also means less miles on the tyres. What a dilema!
Think I will go for yokohama as I saw these initially on the web and everyone says they are the best for grip... hope they last as long!
Found out that Dunlops have a tendancy to get bulges - this means bump, bump on a wheel and you think you've got a wheel loose till you check the tread all round - and you have to watch you don't bump yourself off the road on a bend too
