I'd got with an aftermarket catback exhaust.

When I priced up a standard GTi exhaust last year it came to £290 for the middle and back box! And considering my powerflow cost me £249.99, the price is shocking tbh!

If you opt for a performance exhaust & Manifold its a lot of work to be honest.
I recommend getting a Powerflow system as Emma mentioned above because their a custom made performance exhaust and they're actually cheaper than the OEM Systems.

I had my Mongoose system fitted yesterday at Demon Tweeks and it was an absolute nightmare to fit, despite being the correct exhaust for the car it needed to be heavily modified when it was fitted. I have a Raceland Manifold which is yet to be fitted and I intend to get a de-cat when I fit the manifold.

The Manifold needs a lot of prep work for fitment, including re-boring the holes that bolt to the engine block. The lamba sensor also needs to be extended and there are also sensors on the cat that need to be repositioned (if you opt for a de-cat).
Its alot of work but as I have already bought all the parts I am going to see it through. There are a few performance exhausts available such as Scorpion and Mongoose Systems for the GTI but I reckon your best bet is a powerflow system.

Hope this helps

You can get a raceland manifold from Kam Racing mate, their about £180-190.
I am pretty sure you need to de-cat the exhaust to correctly fit the Manifold anyway due to the sensors. Best person to ask is Craig (Trotta_GTI) because he has fitted the raceland manifold and is currently running a de-cat with a 3" full system.

Sports Cats are £190 usually and are still very restrictive so I would either stick with your original cat or go for the de-cat :D
If you’re looking for pure performance like myself then the best option is the de-cat to try and free up an extra couple of horse power.

tbh ben performance isnt the issue the cat that is currently on the car is flubbered so it needs replacing or removing hence i dont know wether to go oem or aftermarket but i think aftermarket is the way forward!

If you wanted to go OEM I would suggest using these people for the exhaust from the cat back. The mid section and the rear back box for £100 delivered I thought was a bargain. I bought from them about a year ago and arrived pretty quick as well. Worth a shot. :)

If you have the money i would go for a full manifold and cat back if you cannot get a dodgy mot as de-cats r illegal but most garages will waver this for 20 quid so if you want to keep ur cat u need a new one anyways i would go for a 200 cell sport cat and that will keep both you and mr mot happy but fitting of the manifold is hard work as like said it needs work.

I have an aftermarket mongoose system and de-cat with a custom 4 branch from raceland and it puts a smile on your face everytime so its so up to ur choice mate,

If you have the money and time to give it ago or time for a garage then take it to powerflow as the mongoose needs work so let them play with ur raceland manifold and do ur full system, it will be worth it....

Few choices mate but i can guide you through prep work on ur manifold if you go that route and de-cat route, any other route then most ppl on here will help with purchases they have had and so on...........

De-cat it dude, best thing i ever did to mine, feels much more responsive now and will only cost you about £60 if you have it welded straight on at MIJ Performance.

Mine has an adaptor in line for the lambda sensor too and the light only comes up once in a blue moon
