Widest wheels without doing arch work...

Hey guys, Kinda fed up with my car looking stock, especially since I've had it for nearly 3 years now

Am starting to save up for the 312mm brake setup and will also need some alloys larger than the stock 15" sport ones which are fitted. I'm thinking of getting 16" ones. Anyone know how wide you can go on the fronts without doing arch work? I'm at stock ride height, but my car being sport trim is ~15mm lower than standard. Don't want to slam it, but it will be lowered a bit more eventually, probably on the Eibach Pro Kit springs.

I am putting 9J on the back when my wheels get back from refurb. They will have an ET 27

Veedub9n was running 8J all round with an ET 35

I would think 8J up front and 9J on the rear with the right offset are about as wide as you want to go

So presumably 9" wide (9j?), ET25 isn't going to work on the front very well

Is there anywhere I can get more info on ET and width? Just trying to figure out how you measure how far away from the arches on the 9n wheels would be using those two. Obviously j = width which I understand, still a bit confused on offset...

The et (inpressed depth) or offset of a wheel is,

The measured distance from the rear mounting face of the wheel which sits against your hub to the dead center line of the wheel.

Still trying to get my head round this, but if I used 215, 45, 16 with 8j and ET35 (tire may be too narrow though) as a "template" on that site, would that give minimum distance(ish) from the arch without rubbing? Sorry, for being rubbish with this

And another thing, Chewy, can you post a pic of how your car was sitting with the Eibach springs? Can't seem to find any...

That's how mine sat on the Eibach springs



205/40/17 with an ET 32 on a 7.5j

So you should have no problems running 215/45/16 on an 8J with an ET 35

Fit the wheels and lowering springs at the same time.

Larger wider wheels with stock height will look awful.

You can easily fit 8J, 8.5J and 9J under 9ns arches. Could go wider if the ET is correct.

going to buy 8j wheels in 17".
i know it will fit, planning to put 205/40/17 tyres on it, but do you recon it will rub while cornering or so

Hey guys,

I've got a set of 17x8 ET35 wheels that I'm going to be fitting soon, well...I almost sold them off again, as the centre bore is 54mm and I didn't want to machine them to 57.1mm and then have major issues with them not fitting my 9N3.

The problem is our roads here in South Africa are not always the smoothest, and with the height my cab is currently at, I sometimes have rubbing issues - currently running 16x6.5 ET43 + 15mm spacer = ET28.
