Polishing the car...advice needed! PICS UP NOW! SHINEY!
Hi Guys been about a year i think since i have made a post up on here its about that time of year were i put some work into the car, had a little accident so i need a new bumper(i will upload pix later as i am at work) but to my main topic.
"I have swirl marks on my black polo and i want to get rid of them"...simples? lol
i have been using turtlewax colour magic for a while and it did help, but i want to purchase one of those polish machines.
My uncle has a car bodyshop garage and he has a proper 1..puts on this white paste all scratches go away but he said if you press it to hard the paint would come off.
so i really wanted advice on a good one to buy which would simply polish my car clearly i know yo guys have some so jus asking really which one to buy, for a good price and what website can i get it from and also any other advice, i will upload a pic later today on the state of my car.

Re: Polishing the car...advice needed!
To be honest mate, I think I would simply just go for a lint-free cloth and put the time into doing it properly, as I wouldn't trust myself in using a buffer machine simply as your uncle says, it will take all my paint away. I'd rather do it gently and find a whole day free so I can sort it out
Hope this helps.

hmm i was looking at more of a model just to spread the wax more evenly and use wax products eg to buff and not to cut persay
Re: Polishing the car...advice needed!
my best advice would be to find someone with a porter cable these are the dogs danglies ive got one there are a few places that use them ur uncle has got a mop as i would deffo not use one of those look here is one on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PORTER-CABLE-7424 ... 4cf01f7add

Try giving some "safe cut" a go.
Spend a few hours on some scratches that were caused by car not being masked off properly when repainting bumper and it came up a treat. All depends how deep the swirls are.

Re: Polishing the car...advice needed!
I recently corrected the paint on my polo and was the first time i had ever picked up a polisher let alone used one. I must admit the prospect of doing it is very daunting, but as you get used to the feel of the machine and how long to work the polish for it gets a lot easier. I used guides on the Polished Bliss website, who are local to me, and are the dogs in this dept. Also check out some of the guides on detailing world for some good advise.
I bought the Meguires G220 which is a DA (dual action) machine are are far easier and safer for a novice to use, with menzerna pads and polishes. Polished bliss do kits which include everything you need! Obviously i did not correct 100% of the defects, but it removed swirls with ease, i just didnt have the balls to go at it with a cutting pad/compound!
You have to ensure your car is properly cleaned before you start and you cannot rush the process or you will damage the paint/not obtain the desired result. For example i did my entire detail over 4 and a bit days.
good luck!
