ARE THESE MONTREAL?

hey guys and girls i bought myself some exor wheels the other week but im not sure if i want to put them on my car iv thought about the montreal alloys but i have one concern i dont want to slam the car but i want it to sit nicely above the tyres will the wheels stick to much in the arch?
if so spacers? what are they what do they do and do they ruin the handling of the car or cause stress on parts etc?

HI mate,

I think that your fine to space them out, they can put slightly more stress on the wheel bearings but i don't think that it's as much of a problem on newer cars as it is on older ones.

cheers ben! one more thing do you think id need spacers or not with a votex bodykit? and finally lol they are the same wheels on the golfs arent they?

spacers can turn this.....


into this....


theres hubcentric spacers which if youre wanting more than say 5-10 mm then hubcentric are a must as they provide the lip on the hub that the wheel needs to sit on,
theres also a couple of ways they go on, theres the ones that bolt to the hub using the original bolt holes and then your wheel bolts to the spacers, or theres the type where you need to get longer wheel bolts and they just go on before your wheel and are clamped up as you tighten the wheel on
they shouldnt cause a problem really unless youre putting big heavey wheels on and spacing them out massively, which i dont think youre planning on doing that


oh and the rims you can see on the polo in the pic are montreals, well i think theyre montreall2's actually

thanks for that mate can i get your opinion on what you think iv got some exors to go on but i fancy some montreals with a votex kit and i only want to lower the car to hide the arch gap ?

No worries mate,

Yes the Montreal II's are the same that you get one some golfs and they are the standard rims you get on the GT

mate, i think both rims are nice and personally prefer the exors (but i dunno if its just that the montreal II's are stadard on the gt so id prefer something different), so if you decide you want to get montreal II's let me know and maybe we could sort something, but if it was me id say the exors

and either rim should look nice with a votex kit, nice and oem

88rsr I want both lol my problem I have with the Exors is that I don't want to be mistaken as some Chav who's modified his car (I'm the most anti chav lol) because iv gt 17 inch multispokes which is why I thought montreals look a bit more standard so I'd do 15-20 mm hubcentric spacer to fill the arch out as they should have standard!

the new gt or sport as its now called has a updated set of montreals (if thats what there still called) they came standard on mine. there roughly the same but have a bit of a dish and bolts around them

i know what you mean mate, trust me though if you get the ride height right oem 17s work really well on a 9n polo, my mate has the polo dune bbs rw rims and it looks awesome imo, it is dropped a fair bit though, and i reckon at standard height they would look pretty crap, so sort the ride height and enjoy the exors
