A Sad Goodbye...

Post by joe2612 »

Hi all, I never posted saying i was selling up, as i didn't want you all to tempt me to keep it, but i sold my Gti today :(

I had done everything i had wanted to do with it, and feel it was the right time to move on- the new owner is a nice guy and i'm sure he'll look after it ( almost :P) as well as i did.

I'm open to suggestions on what car to get next. the nominees are:

1. Audi tt MK1 225
2. Audi S3 225
3. Mazda RX-8
4. Bmw 330ci
5. Other!

I'm greatful for all the help and advice given over the past year and 9 months. I owe you all a beer! :P

Congratulations on the sale dude, should have got him to sign up haha.

As for the new car i would go with either option 1 or 2.Both nice cars and equally as tunable.I from experience would go for the S3,Im guessing you mean around the 02-03 reg not the newer one?.My brothers got one and they're equally as good to bott it in as they are to show off the gadgets and refinements.

Good luck with the hunt.

You owe me a vodka and orange, not a beer sunny jim :P haha

I'd go for the S3. Best option out of the lot imo.

Yes it Is the older S3... and i like them too.. just think they look too much like a normal A3 that's all... and a big heavy hatch back isen't going to be 'chuckable' really....

And Brad i sold mine for about 3K mate.

I own both a Polo and a Seat Leon Cupra R, and all i can say about the leon is WOW. I have the 1.8t 225 model and its been remapped to 270 and is very very quick. Brakes are excellent thanks to the 4 pot Brembo upfront. Handling is also great, with a decent set of tyres (i have Pirelli P-Zero Neros) the car sticks to the road. Intertior looks great, ride is great and i believe they look awesome and they aren't many of them out there. Definitely go for a Cupra R :)

Congrats on sale dude, always sad day when you have to get rid of your pride and joy.

As for the list of possible cars I would either go for the S3 or TT :)
Seat LCR are nice but they are Front wheel drive and dont have the same quality to offer compared to Audi's.

Audi's are top of the VAG tree and you can't go wrong with a decent TT or S3, finding a good one wont be easy though as I found out.

Well TT's and S3s are both hidiously priced compared to the Leon, considering the S3 and LEon are practically the same, and arguably, 4WD isen't as much fun ;)

Have you seen the difference in quality on a Seat compared to an Audi though?
Seats are very much budget compared to the Audi's quality.

The Leon's are good cars but they can't be compared to an Audi really.

4X4 = More traction :D

Leons in my opinion are pretty hideous too, certainly compared to an S3 or Golf GTI.

Got to agree with Ben on this one.Id never compare the Leon to an S3 or TT,Engines maybe but quality and attention to detail no way.Leons for me personally look abit too big plus seeing how my brothers S3 goes around roundabouts on Quattro is pretty knarly.

Valid arguments guys.. funniy i was set on getting an S3 earlier then a TT then an RX8 then a Leon cupra R.. fickle to say the least!

Oh well the hunt continues! I do Love TTs and S3s but for a decent one your looking at 7-8K compared to 5 ish for a Leon or RX-8...!

Yeah the S3's are very pricey which is why I ended up keeping the Polo, lovely cars but I was looking for a low mileage good condition 225bhp model and they were like 8.5-10K so too much for me.

RX-8 would be a good choice they are really impressive cars, especially for the money.

Good luck searching Joe :)
