Small Update - 30/08/2010
I gave the car a good clean today as it was certainly due one, nothing too special but it turned out quite well.
The weather was great too, probably the only Sunny day weve had in August!
1)Just started with a basic wash to begin with, the arches were covered in cow sh*t because the farmer round by me never cleans up the lanes so I gave them a good jet wash and got rid of the worst of it.
2)Shampoo'd it with Dodo Juice Sour Pour then dried with a dry towling.
3)I then used some of the Meguiars bug and tar remover and started on the front bumper, sills, lower wings, splitter & bonnet, that got rid of all the dead fly marks and got it looking fresh.
4) I started with the Poorboys Black hole glaze next and went over the car twice with that stuff. Wicked Product!
5) Because my front bumper and bonnet have several stone chips I use just ordinary Turtle wax Back to Black on them, its really horrible messy stuff but it fills in the blemishes far better than the blackhole glaze so I applied two coats of that to the front bumper and bonnet.
6) Last up was the Klasse German Polish, I applied just one coat of that all over, including the front bumper & bonnet.
7) Just finished off then with some glash polish on the windows, tyre slick and Autosol'd the Exhaust.
Not the best of pics as I was loosing the light but better than nothing.

Another thing I did this weekend was paint my red grille strip.
I have replaced it twice now in the last 12 months due to it fading and becoming pink. I tried to be different so took it off again and applied some red paint to it. I only had high temp red paint which wasnt ideal but I thought I would try a blue peter bodge job anyway
Being high temp paint it looked awful so instead of stripping it back down again I applied a couple of coats of lacquer as well. Must admit it does look much better now, very bright
looks similar to the MK5 GTI Golf grille strip now in terms of colour.

Sorry for the picture size, i'll have a fiddle with that tomorrow and get them sorted
Re: Ben's Polo GTI - New Pics Page 9!
Looks very clean dude, bet its already filthy by now! Joys of owning a black car
Only thing im personally not that keen on is where the number plate sits. If i had the bumpers smoothed think i'd have the plates on like Tim has on his.

Cheers mate, aye the back already has plenty of dust on there
gutted!
Yeah the plate position is a bit of a "love or hate" thing really, In an ideal world it would be sitting in the window but the police are really hot on things like that in North Wales so I have to keep it on the car unfortunately
Its either OEM position, Lower Grille like it is now or Sitting on the Splitter and out of those 3 I prefer the lower grille option.
I can see why people dont like it though, its a marmite situation

I gave it another good clean on the weekend so its still looking good at the moment, finally ordered some of the Collinite 476 wax from Elite car care so if the weather stays reasonable it should be getting a couple of coats of that stuff this weekend.
Re: Ben's Polo GTI - New Pics Page 9!
Last pic is my favourite, looking very good!
I do like silver, but sometimes wish I had gone for a black GTI...
