Polo - £2500
Resprayed bumpers, bonnet, mirror, wheels - £400
Coilovers - £200

All the litte bits - £150
But i love my car now so a bargain in my eyes.
Next year it needs the cambelt doing and want to upgrade the audio so thats another £750.
Dont tell the girlfriend though, meant to be saving for a mortgage

Haha i spend all my money on my car and my boyfriend car!MrP wrote:

So Far my GTI has cost me quite a bit.
When my boyfriend owned it:
Alloys £500 - ( i took out a credit card to get him those wheels)
£?? - Remap and engine bits and bobs. I gave him money here and there and brought him random things which worked out as quite a lot
£40 ish (£14.39 case and £27.14 glass) - New Drivers side wing mirror case and Glass from VW after an old man smashed if off with his car.
Since owning it:
- the price for the car
£300+ - the Audio in the car
£140 - two front new tyres
£205 - 12 Months Tax
£70 - Insurance each month
£75 - New window glass as my car was jst broken into
and soon to come.
MOT,
Cambelt (tho the boyfriend said hell pay for that
and now need a new headunit as mine was stolen yesterday
Re: How much does your GTi cost you??
To keep it going:
2 x gearboxes - £1200+
Battery - £100
Alternator - £140
Servicing parts - £150
New wipers - £30
To make it nicer:
Refurbed BBS alloys + new tyres - £450
Bluetooth stereo - £150
Mini sub - £100
Cleaning stuff to make it shiny - £100
I use my iPhone to track the costs and it averages about
£3/day on fuel.
£15/day to run (inc. road tax, MOT, insurance, above maintenance costs and the original purchase price).
The gearbox is the only disappointing thing about this car and when it failed the second time, I was seriously considering selling. Love-hate relationship because it's fun to drive! Couldn't find anything equally as fun (for what I could afford), so decided to fix it and just try to take care of it a bit better.

Re: How much does your GTi cost you??
...i used to spend all my money on pets, until my dad said he'd shoot me if i brought anymore....i still manage to secretly slip a fish or two into my tanks without anyone noticing
but all my money goes into my car. no going out. no excesive amounts of makeup, shoes, or clothes. just all on the cars.
and i like it that way
