My GTI was broken into last night :(

Post by Verity »

My GTI was broken into last night.
got up this morning at 7.30 to make tea and toast.
and my boyfriend's dad goes outside to take the dog for a walk. 2 seconds late he comes back in and call my boyfriend down.
he said the GTI had been broken into. we ran outisde and low and behold he was like this:

Took my headunit, Purse and an old phone i had in ther glove compartment.

If im honest with you ive spent all day crying. it really sucks. there never is a good time to have you car broken into. but with my MOT and cambelt due soon its just something i really cant afford.

luckily most of the damage isnt permanent. they have bent the window frame slightly with a crow bar. but weve bent that back and the black trim covers it over. they have ripped the headunit out but thankfully they didnt use a screwdriver to dig it out or anything so my dahs board is generally unmarked.

everyone has been brilliant. the ladies who i spoke to at Lloyds and Halfiax about cancelling my card.
Direct Line were Suprisingly helpful
and Autoglass ordered in a piece of glass from birminham specially so that it could be fixed today.

and yet the police didnt care at all.

phoned them up at 7.30 when we found the car, and were told they would send someone out.
10.30 i phone them up again and the girl on the phon goes
"did they get in thru the window or door?"
"thru the window"
"oh they wont come out then, they need figer prints on the handle"
"but they went in my glovebox and stole my purse and they ripped out my headunit they would have touched something"
"well we had someone look into it and they dont think it will be benifical. sorry"

she was completely blunt about it.

loads of people have said the cars been targetted. it used to belong to my boyfriend so its a farely well known car.
at the end of the day i know its my own fault for leaving the face of the unit in but :( aaaarrrrrgh sucks so bad

It's never nice hearing stories like this.Especially from an enthuiast who clearly cares alot about their car. It's a shame, some people really are the scum of the earth. The country is really going down hill the next generation of youngsters is going to be mad,the goverment aren't ready for them.Police have forgot the purpose of they're job and it's become dependant on money and time.

Anyway,i hope you get it all sorted and some sort of karma happens to the little s**t that stol your bits.

Good luck Verity.

Cheers Bradley

I think the thing that bugs me the most is; everything i have ive worked for. my hours where cut at work a few months back. i earn barely anything so all my time and money now goes into running the car (because it makes me happy), but it means i have nothing left over for anything else. and for someone to just go and take it and gain from it. it makes me feel sick :(
And its so frustrating that the police dont give a s***. im so so disheartened.

i just hope i get my stuff back. or i at least get to kick the b*****ds inbetween the legs....im not a violent person....but i keep getting plesant thoughts of me bashing the person over the head with the headunit lol

Woh, im sorry to hear about this. The police are a joke when it comes to things like this. I dont take my headunit out much anymore unless i park up somewhere in town, bit of a heads up i guess.

I really hope you get it sorted fairly soonish, its a horrible thing to happen.

And i hope you catch the little chavs that did it. Or just kick in the next lad wearing trackies and a burberry hat just to make yourself fell a bit better

I really really feel for you.

I know exactly what your saying, you work really hard and go without most things other people have so you can have things that you want, such as a nice car. Then some absolute piece of **** of a human being (if you can class them as that) comes along and swipes it in an instant, sad thing is this will end up costing you £100's and weeks/months to sort and pay for the things again and the scummer will make £30 flogging your headunit down his local. I can't explain how angry this makes me feel and I'm really gutted for you.

Some people just have no respect or understanding for other people, all they see is an easy £10 rather than working hard for it, they see other people with nice things but not the hard work others put into obtaining these said possessions. These people are just morons without a fathom of understanding of the true value of possessions, it's not just what you own, it's how hard you had to work to own it. I'd love to show these type of people my respect for them, Chuck Norris stylee.

Police do sweet F/A and I have lost all faith in the justice system that they follow. They just don't seem to care about things like this any more, probably because they get so many cases they are just desensitised by it all. The only time they do something is when they catch people in the act, even then it's hard for them to prosecute, it's just not worth their effort or time any more. It's a joke and the people in the business should be ashamed of themselves, they really should.

I hope you get everything sorted as hassle free as possible and don't let it put you off having a nice car. Not everyone in the world is as s**t as people like this.

P.s. Your car looks like the 5 door version of mine 8)

Cheers for you responses guys! i half expected someone to say 'it was your own fault you left the unit in there' but youve all been really nice about it.
im still so gutted and had a little sob when i saw the gap in my dashboard this morning :( (gay of me i know. but im just freakin out bout money so much atm)

the window is fixed which makes me feel a little better. the guys at autoglass were brilliant.
but the window doesnt quite fit :( there is a gap at the bottom of the frame. which means either the glass isnt quite right....or my window frame is bent.
im preying its the glass! they have ordered me in a new peice of glass for next week. as atm i cant put the window down as it catches about half way and goes back down

in the mean time i have washed my dash down with hot water, to try and get rid of any other those pikey finger prints that may be on there. i dont like the thought of them being inside my car

same I only ever took it out if i went into the big towns. but if it was locally (my house, boyfriends, work) then i never bothered....i wish i did now :(

haha sounds like a brilliant idea to me!

so have I :( 2 years ago my car got crashed into by a man in a van on a raounadbout. and i phoned the police. they asked if anyone was hurt and i said no. so they didnt care.
last year my boyfriend bike went missing. that thing cost him many £100s (nearer £1000) and he was paying for it for months and months. that was stolen and the police didnt care. he had to hunt down the little pikey that took that.
and now this year theyve not cared about my car.
and yet a lady reported my mate for flashing his bottom half at her (which he didnt even do! i was stood right next to him and believe me i wouldnt want to see that either!) and yet they made 5 of us had to go to the police station and give statments about it.
i dont see how they justify that!!!!!

Sorry to hear about your bad news, some people need to be shot.
I agree with what everyone has said above, couldnt have put it better.

This country is going down the crapper fast, the Police are about as much use as a chocolate kettle, they dont give two sh!ts anymore. I hope you managed to get things sorted on the Polo and with any luck the f***ers that stole your possesions get a good beating somewhere down the line.

cheers for the comments guys :)
was talking to a mate yesterday who's dad is attually a policeman.
about 2-3 years ago she crashed frank her little fiat and the police came over (including her dad) and he told her no one wanted to go becuase of all the paper work that would have been involved

no luck on finding the little f***ers yet :( jack went around all the pickey areas looking around but no luck
so he tried to cheer me up by getting a few bits and bobs from work

did work i guess. i do enjoy my little vw doggy airfreshner but doesnt really compare to a headunit lol
