on BP Ulitmate my tank took £51.51 the other day.
that was running very low to the point of the tank not being about to take anymore.

i drive economical (most of the time. its to much of a car to drive like it 100%of the time ;) ) and can get quite a bit out of my fuel
..tho i do live on hills. so i tend to be able to make most of my journeys to work by barely even accelerating lol
im not really overly bothered by fuel and stuff. i agree with whats said above lol. i love my GTI so its worth it :)
tho i go thru the exact same amount of money on fuel doing the same journeys as with my 1.4 16v SE

And still no reserve light on! Couldnt believe it myself either hence the pic.... Wanted to push it further but I was in Holland at the time, so I didnt think running dry would be a good call lol.

Haha, thanks. Yea taking it pretty easy. Got me from Devon to Holland and around a bit. A mix of not knowing the speed limit and not wanting a ticket resulted in that. I recon it had another 30 miles in it or so, if I had risked it!

Also, I would like to point out petrol was nearly £1.60 a litre, so I had to make it last!

I've been keeping track of my fuel usage (on my iphone) since I got my GTI last year.

My most economical drive ever was 43.52 MPG! Basically drove for 6 hours across England on motorways, mostly downhill. My least economical was 35MPG going the other way mostly uphill. My fuel light normally comes on around 330-350 miles.

The commute to work gets me about 40MPG if I'm sensible, especially after I got a new gearbox and serviced the car.

How many rev's does everyone's GTI run at when cruising at 70 and 80? Mine's about 2700@70 and 3100@80. Could swear it was a lot higher and more responsive on the previous gearbox but could just be my imagination as the car was out of action for a lot of the summer.

At 80 mine is just a shade under 4000. Still on the original box.
